Dear Members of the App State Community,
Some of you may be aware of an important project underway on campus to assess App State’s information technology (IT) services and resources across campus.
This assessment will provide the university with a comprehensive understanding of IT services provided today, the IT needs of the campus community, and recommendations to improve how critical IT services are supported. In order to have an accurate assessment, we are seeking input from you. Your voice is important, and your perspective will be part of this important project that will ensure App State has robust, responsive and resilient IT services that will be a helpful and lasting resource for our university community.
We have engaged BerryDunn, a consulting firm experienced in higher education information technology, to help us with the assessment.
A critical part of this effort will be the engagement of students, faculty, and staff across campus to gain perspective on our current IT services. IT staff will also be very involved in this process, and will be completing surveys and working directly with the BerryDunn team throughout the month of October.
Here’s how we will ask ALL faculty, staff and students to get involved:
- All students, faculty, and staff will receive a survey via email to complete the week of Sep. 27.
- We will be conducting focus groups with students, faculty and staff in late September through early October.
- In the coming weeks, I will be holding virtual office hours to answer any questions that you may have. You may view the schedule below.
Your active participation is critical to the success of this engagement, and I appreciate your involvement and support.
Throughout this process, I will continue communicating with campus, and will share the progress and any recommendations from this assessment. We will be updating our CIO website regularly as well.
Sincerely,
Tom Van Gilder
Interim Chief Information Officer
