Understanding the IT Acquisition Process at App State
This workshop is designed to help faculty and staff navigate Appalachian State University's IT Acquisition process for software and hardware. We’ll walk through key steps, explain when a review is needed, share tips for submitting clear, complete requests and explore possible procurement options. Whether you're requesting tools for teaching, research, or operations, this session will help you save time and avoid common roadblocks. Ideal for new faculty and staff, or anyone looking to refresh their understanding of the IT acquisition process.

From AsULearn to Canvas: A Faculty-Led Guided Tour
Transitioning to a new LMS is easier when you can see the finish line. In this virtual showcase, your peers will open the doors to their Canvas courses to share their migration stories. This is a unique opportunity to see diverse design styles and hear honest reflections on the migration process.
What to expect:
- Live Walkthroughs: See real-world applications of Canvas tools.
- Design Secrets: Learn how faculty adapted their syllabus and content for a new interface.
- Q&A: Ask the pilot faculty about their "aha!" moments and lessons learned.

How Content Migrates from Moodle into Canvas
These are in-person sessions.
The UNC System Office has mandated that all UNC system schools transition to using the Canvas learning management system. Understanding how your existing course materials move from AsULearn to Canvas is the first step toward successful future semesters.
This one-hour technical deep-dive is designed to pull back the curtain on the migration process. We'll explore the logistics of how content is transferred and, more importantly, what it looks like when it arrives on the other side. Bring your laptop and join us for a working session as you begin thinking about migrating your course to Canvas.
We’ll categorize course components into three clear buckets:
- Elements that migrate (relatively) seamlessly
- Items that migrate, but will require review
- Activities that will need to be rebuilt
