As the semester kicks off, you might log into Canvas, App State's new learning management system, and find that your Dashboard looks empty. If you are missing one or more of your courses, don't panic! There are several common reasons why this happens and simple steps you can take to fix it.
Quick troubleshooting
Check the mobile app settings: The Canvas mobile app defaults to showing only "favorited" courses on the Dashboard. If you haven't starred any courses, your Dashboard may appear completely blank.
Course publication: Your instructor may not have published the course yet, or the semester has not officially started. Generally, courses do not appear until midnight on the morning of the first day of classes.
New to Canvas: If this is your very first time logging into Canvas, there may be a brief delay before your courses sync.
Check AsULearn: App State is running both AsULearn (Moodle) and Canvas learning management systems in parallel through Spring 2027. Your instructor might still be using AsULearn for this specific semester, so be sure to check there as well.
Flight Path Students: If you are enrolled in courses through Flight Path (formerly Project Kitty Hawk), your courses are hosted on a separate external platform. Sign in to your Success Hub for assistance.
