Keith WernerKeith Werner, serving as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at App State, leads an accomplished team of more than 100 IT professionals. His current focus is on steering the university's information technology policy, setting standards, ensuring robust information security, and driving the development of enterprise systems and applications. Werner's leadership underpins the strategic planning and operational continuity of IT infrastructure and services, enhancing App State's educational and research capabilities.

In his prior role as CIO of the UNC System, Werner oversaw IT operations, emphasizing the integration of policy and practice across the constituent institutions. His dedication to system-wide coordination and cybersecurity remains a cornerstone of his approach.

Werner's expertise in IT strategy was honed during his tenure as Vice President of IT strategy and cybersecurity at the UNC System Office. His representation on various boards, including the MCNC and the North Carolina IT Strategy Board's Cybersecurity and Privacy Committee, showcases his influence in shaping statewide IT initiatives.

Before his strategic foray into academia, Werner had impactful stints in the public sector, including leadership roles at Ernst & Young and as North Carolina's state CIO.
