App State continues its transition to Canvas as our learning management system (LMS).
Where We Are
Adoption: 75% of faculty teaching in spring 2027 have made the switch to Canvas.
Timeline: All courses will be in Canvas as of summer 2027, when AsULearn (Moodle) user access will be disabled and IT support will end.
Canvas Workshops
Academic and Emerging Technologies (AET) is offering a series of Canvas workshops the first week of November. Review topics and register.
Sign up for workshops to receive the recording or find past sessions in the Canvas workshop Kaltura library.

Back Up Your AsULearn Content
Take action: Download any AsULearn course materials and student data (gradebook, student submissions) that you will need after spring 2027.
Plan for Incompletes
If you might assign an incomplete in fall 2026 or spring 2027, plan ahead. With AsULearn set to retire in summer 2007, any course with an active incomplete at the end of spring 2027 will need to be migrated to Canvas. That move is not a one-to-one and can present challenges:
Not every AsULearn tool has a direct equivalent in Canvas.
A course shell can be imported from AsULearn into Canvas, but student work cannot. This includes quiz attempts, assignment submissions and forum posts.
Consider downloading student work and gradebook data before the end of the term, and reach out for a consultation to talk through options.
