Student Update: 2026 Course transitions from AsULearn to Canvas

App State is transitioning its learning management system from AsULearn (Moodle) to Canvas. Starting this summer, students will likely need to use both platforms to access course materials

What you need to know

The university is moving to Canvas to align with a UNC System-wide consolidation to streamline digital learning. Read the university announcement.

The goal: We expect to be fully migrated to Canvas by summer 2027 (one year) to ensure all students have a consistent experience and faculty have time to migrate and update courses.

How to navigate:

  1. Check both platforms: Students may have summer and fall courses in both Canvas and AsULearn.

  2. Toggle between systems: Starting summer session I, each platform will have a link in the main menu to the other.

  3. Stay informed: Check all course communications, whether via email from faculty or in course syllabi.

  4. Stay organized: Keep track of different deadlines and notifications across both systems.
