IT Standard Purchases

IT Standard Purchases

To help your IT Acquisitions move through a smooth, successful process, this list identifies standard IT items and how to purchase them.

If your IT Acquisition need does not fall in one of these categories, please submit a Support Request for IT Acquisitions & Projects to be reviewed by IT Leadership.

Desktop, Laptop and Tablet Computers

  • Faculty/Staff (except Student Affairs): Contact your desktop support specialist in IT Support or submit a support ticket for all Desktop, laptop and Tablet computer needs.
  • Student Affairs: Contact Electronic Student Services (ESS), who will coordinate all Student Affairs PC refreshes.
  • For those not in Student Affairs, who wish to view the standard Windows machines on your own, login to YoMart and select the Dell punchout site.  If you have questions about using YoMart, please visit their website
    • Apple devices are purchased through the University Bookstore; remember to let them know if the purchase is for University Business or Personal Use.

Office Phones, Headsets and Conference Systems

Departments and programs are required to use VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) enabled Cisco phones which are provided by ITS per phone line. If you need a new phone, line or conference system in your department, submit a support ticket.  Should your phone needs vary from what is provided, ITS Network Infrastructure & Control Systems will advise you on how to procure additional or non-standard equipment.

For a hands-free headset, go to yomart.appstate.edu, then the CDWG punch-out site to see the approved models from Jabra and Plantronics. If you need help in determining what will best suit your needs, call the Help Desk at 828-262-6266.

Mobile Phones, Hotspots, Tablets with Data Plans

Partnering with Verizon, departments may purchase a mobile phone, hot spot or tablet with a data plan for University business. Submit a support ticket for this or other Verizon-related assistance.
