The list below identifies standard IT hardware and how to purchase them.
If your Acquisition need does not fall in one of the categories below, submit a IT Hardware Request to be reviewed by ITS.
Desktop, laptop & tablet computers
Faculty/Staff
Contact IT Support Services by submitting a Computer Assistance ticket for all desktop, laptop and tablet computer purchases.
Office phones, conference systems & headsets
Phones & conference systems
The university uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and Jabber by Cisco. Jabber is used solely at our Hickory campus, a software that can be used remotely to answer calls from a university-managed computer or mobile device. Boone campus members currently have the option to utilize a physical phone and/or Jabber.
To request a new phone, line or conference system, submit a VoIP Change request. ITS Infrastructure can advise on the procurement of any additional or non-standard equipment.

Mobile phones, hotspots, tablets with data plans
Partnering with Verizon, departments may purchase a mobile phone, a hotspot or a tablet with a data plan for university business. The department will be responsible for purchasing and monthly billing. Submit a Verizon request for all Verizon-related assistance.
Copiers & Multi-function Printers (Printer/Copier/Fax/Scanner)
Departments and programs are required to use a Sharp Multi-function Printer (MFP) from Copier Services for their university-managed, networked device. Costs vary by unit. Find more information at support.appstate.edu/print-copy, and for questions, submit a Printing Assistance ticket.
Classroom Technology Equipment
All classroom technology is purchased and supported by the ITS division of Academic Technologies. Review standard classroom equipment in our Knowledge Base. For questions, submit a Classroom Space request.
DTEN
DTEN is an all-in-one conference room solution with a touchscreen, integrated PC, microphone, speaker and HD camera with Zoom Room for Touch pre-installed. For questions, submit a Meeting Spaces Request.
Digital Signage
Scala is the supported digital signage solution for campus, under University Communication's guidance, with ITS providing back-end support for player management. Visit the university's Digital Signage website to learn more.
Security Cameras
Axis cameras are our university's security camera solution, and to install, a department must have approval from the Security Camera Oversight Governance Committee.
To seek a quote for purchase or a request for review, submit a Security Camera Assistance ticket. If a request is approved, ITS will advise on purchasing and coordinate installation.
