Digital Accessibility

Digital Accessibility

Appalachian is committed to ensuring equal opportunities and inclusive experiences for individuals with disabilities. We are dedicated to providing equivalent digital experiences for all users.

There is joint responsibility between University Communications, Electronic Student Services, Information Technology Services, and the Office of Disability Resources for ensuring web page or web-based resources are accessible to individuals with disabilities and ensuring adherence to the Digital Accessibility Policy.

To assist the campus community in creating accessible materials and environments, resources are provided at accessibility.appstate.edu.

Report a Digital Access Barrier

Individuals who encounter a disability-related barrier or access concern with digital content/materials or technology may report using the Digital Access Barrier form (Google Form).

Upon receipt, ITS or designee will conduct a timely and impartial review. Relevant campus administrators will be consulted as needed to resolve barriers. App State will provide its initial response to the complainant within two (2) business days. App State will resolve the complaint within seven (7) business days by either remediating or resolving the access barrier and provide notice of the resolution to the complainant.

Visit our dedicated websites for assistance with passwords or wifi access. For general technical support, call (828)262-6266 or submit a service request at support.appstate.edu.

SensusAccess

The University utilizes SensusAccess, an accessible media conversion tool to enhance accessible documents. SensusAccess converts text and image-based files into more accessible formats. It can also be used to transform text and image-based files into different outputs including audio, Braille, or e-text formats.
